Exercises during PregnancyDespite old telltales telling you to avoid exercises during the course of gestation, many modern pregnant women nowadays are actually performing workouts and exercises because of the many health benefits they can derive from them such as boosting their mood, ensuring fitness, and facilitating easier child birth.  But as always, you need to consult your doctor about the thought first, and once agreement has been made then can you only perform exercises.

Generally though, exercises during first trimester and even later are actually safe for the soon to be mom.  In here, we won’t be telling you to perform such strenuous activities like running a marathon or skiing, instead we’ll be talking about best exercises during pregnancy which range from mild to moderate routines. Hmm, so if you are a pregnant woman, what can you actually do to get you started?  Here are some of them.

What are the Best Exercises during Pregnancy?

Fitness activities are primarily focused on maintaining your heart beat at 140 beats per minute as well as performing tasks which aren’t too vigorous for the pregnant woman. For instance, we have the following exercises.

  • Cardiovascular exercises such as brisk walking, jogging, swimming, dancing, bicycling are generally safe to be performed.  These exercises keep the heart pumping thus keeping your body toned as well.
  • Breathing exercises and other alternatives such as yoga allow the woman to relax and boost flexibility.  Moreover, it relieves stress thus clearing the mind from any pressures. Apparently, special yoga trainings and lessons are recommended during maternity which are not strenuous much.
  • Abdominal exercises such as pelvic rocking helps in contracting your abs muscles carefully.       Other safe abdominal drills include side bending and curl ups. However, be aware to avoid any supine ab exercises after the first trimester as the risk for decreased cardiac output is likely to happen.
  • Kegel exercises are the most suggested type of routine as this help strengthen the muscles during he course of pregnancy thus allowing you to control them when your baby is about to be delivered.  In addition, these help prevent hemorrhoids, prevent excessive laceration during child birth, and facilitates regain of bladder control easily.

Women can continue to exercise during pregnancy.  This fact just simply shows that you can’t make any excuses to keeping yourself fit during this life changing moment that you’re experiencing.  But remember, exercises should be limited and should be asked to your doctor first.  However, as far as best exercises during pregnancy are concerned, here are some of the tips that you can follow.  Good luck!
