Foods to Not Eat During Pregnancy

If you are trying to have a baby or is already an expectant mom, then most probably being healthy is your first priority to ensure that you’re baby will be healthy in return. But to achieve this, you need to inspect every little detail like foods not to eat during pregnancy especially those which can do harm on your precious one. While most foods are generally safe for you to eat, there are still some foods which should be avoided during the period of gestation. Here is some of the list.
Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy
- Raw meat: undercooked or half cooked meat should be avoided because it increases the risk for E.Coli and Salmonella infection which can therefore pose threat to your little one.
- Dishes with raw eggs on them should also be avoided because if the increased risk for salmonella as well.
- Unpasteurized milk, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks are included to the list of not what to drink. Unpasteurized milk contains the Listeria bacteria which can pass through the placenta thus has the potential of being passed to your baby. Alcohol, on the other hand, is known to cause fetal abnormalities which is why a pregnant woman should refrain from dinking it.
- Expectant mother should also stop eating seafood with mercury such as mackerel, shark, tuna, and swordfish. Once this chemical element is ingested, it can bring abnormalities to the baby as well.
- Fruits and vegetables which are unwashed should not be included in the diet. instead, opt for meals wherein these fruits and vegetables have been washed to avoid suffering from toxoplasmosis.
- Junk foods and other non-nutritious food products should never be included in your snacks. Healthy variety of foods is always suggested during this period.
If you love eating the abovementioned foods, you might find it a big pain to learn that you have to avoid them as possible during the course of pregnancy. Just keep in mind though that eliminating intake of these foods to not eat during pregnancy will definitely benefit you and you’re baby in the long run. Have a safe pregnancy.
