Burping once or twice especially after eating is usually normal, but when it happens too frequently, and loud, then it can be a problem. Some of the causes linked to burping more than too much include stress, gastritis, celiac disease, or GERD. Aerophagia or excessive swallowing of air is also another culprit why the condition happens. In addition, external factors such as eating greasy food, intake of carbonated drinks, and certain medications may add up to the reasons why one belch heavily. Excessive belching may be inconvenient and embarrassing, but luckily there are some several advices you can follow on how to stop excessive belching. Take a good look at them below.

Prevention is always the best way to stop belching. Therefore, you can follow some of the simple home remedies in order to prevent too much burping.

  • Be conscious when you eat or speak. As much as possible, avoid swallowing too much air as doing so can cause build up of excess air in the stomach thus resulting to the condition.
  • You also have to be careful of what you’re going to eat. Some fruits and vegetables actually put you at risk to burping more than often such as cucumbers, cabbage, and spicy food.
  • Limit intake of carbonated drinks including beer, coffee, tea, and many others. These can build up extra acid in the stomach thus aggravating the condition.
  • Smoking also adds up to build up of air in the stomach. Therefore, cease smoking to reduce frequency of swallowing air which progresses to belching.
  • Honey and apple cider vinegar is also a good home remedy to treat too much burping.
  • Look for fruits and vegetables with natural enzymes as they can aid in digestion which eliminates occurrence of the problem.

There are instances when excessive belching is associated with excessive flatulence, bloating, heartburn, farting, constipation or diarrhea, and dyspepsia. If this is the case, medical attention should be sought in order to treat underlying condition accordingly.
