Xanthoma is the medical term given to the fatty and yellow plaque or deposits in the skin’s surface. Xanthelasma palpebrarum is one of the most common types of xanthoma and is seen in the eyelid’s inner canthus.

Causes of Xanthelasma

Oftentimes, the presence of this condition is usually linked to having increased lipid in the blood. Therefore, people with the following medical conditions are prone to developing the skin condition:

  • Diabetes
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Cirrhosis of the liver
  • Cancer
  • Metabolic disorders

One of the symptoms that the condition manifest is a sore bump or lesion in any part of the body, particularly in the eyelid, which is yellow, flat, and soft to touch. How to Cure Xanthelasma

Generally, treatment of xanthomas revolves around management of lipid levels in the blood. But since there is abnormal growth in the skin, you may feel embarrassed by its occurrence. In mild cases of the problem, utilizing liquid nitrogen may be used by your doctor on how to get rid of it. This will then kill the fatty deposits which are building up in your area. Laser therapy and surgical excision may also be performed for removal since this can be disfiguring. Cryocautery is another option for eliminating scars and patches. Unfortunately, recurrence is very common despite surgical and other means.

But are there natural steps on how to get rid of it? Well, it is said that intake of fish oils can be consumed to reduce lipid production and therefore delay development of the skin condition.
