Using Pregnancy TestThe absence of menstrual period is among the presumptive symptoms that a woman might be pregnant. However, since the term itself is “presumptive”, it can’t seem to be true all the time as amenorrhea may be a symptom of any underlying disorder.

Of course, newly married couples or just any woman who wishes to have a baby is eager to find out whether or not they are pregnant especially when they’ve started using ovulation kit and fertility monitors to help them with their quest. And oftentimes, the answer can be learned by making use of pregnancy test kit. But how to use home pregnancy test kit is still a question by several women. Having said this, the article aims to determine if you are in fact conceiving or not. Learn more of the instructions below.

Home Pregnancy Test Kit Usage

The home kit actually measures the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone in your urine as an indicator that conception has taken place. This can be bought in your local health stores without the need for a doctor’s prescription and it is easy to use provided that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Moreover, it comes in a variety of brands and the cost comes in different price. Generally though, this is how is how to go about using the device.

  1. Buy a home pregnancy kit of your choice and choose a day when you’re going to test using the device. The best time when to use it is first thing in the morning upon awakening.
  2. To avoid contamination of the specimen and get accurate results, wash your hands with soap and water. Open the package after you’ve finished washing your hands.
  3. With a sterile cup on another hand, pee on it in order to collect urine which you’re going to be used. Pour atleast 2-3 drops of urine on the kit with the use of the dropper available along with the device.
  4. Wait for the specified amount of time based on the label of the packaging. Oftentimes, the result can be seen in as short as 3 minutes but not longer than 5 minutes.
  5. You can see two colored bands in most kits. Once you see two lines, it means positive. If what you see is just one line, it’s negative. In an instance when no line can be seen, it could mean the test was invalid and that you may have to try again.

Accuracy of the test is usually up to 97 percent. There are times though when false positive is achieved and may require atleast two more tests to further validate the results. Again, pregnancy test is only a probable sign that you are conceiving. After getting a positive pregnancy test, you can consult a doctor to make sure that it is not mistaken for any other conditions.  Have a safe pregnancy and childbirth!
