This skin disease which happens to individuals of all sorts makes life worse since it brings about the occurrence of pimples. What is more terrifying is that, these pimples don’t just ruin the face, but as well as the neck, chest, and back.

The exact cause why a person is afflicted with this skin condition is unknown, however bacterial infestation as well as triggering factors including familial history, stress, hormonal imbalance, and diet. Whatever the causes are, this is extremely annoying. Anyone can go through from this skin disease, and each of us can suffer from different types of acne. Hmm, so what are some of the types of acne that can strike us? Read on to learn more.

Types of Acne

Acne Vulgaris – generally means “common acne”. This is the most widespread type to arise among people. Acne vulgaris is characterized by lesions such as whitehead, blackheads, pustules, papules, cysts, and nodules. Whiteheads and blackheads happen when the skin pores are clogged thus trapping the oil in the skin. Acne cysts are ones which is full of pus and are extremely painful and scarring is more likely to happen. Nodules are large bumps and lesions on the surface of the skin which is painful like the cystic acne. When we say zits, medically we refer to pustules wherein white or yellow pus is enclosed in a red circle. Papules are red lesions which are tender to touch and may cause irritation.

Acne Conglobata – this is considered the most severe type of acne to affect a person especially a male. This can be seen as lesions with discharges that are extremely large and disfiguring. This may cause scarring as well.

Acne Rosacea – rosacea generally means redness thus this condition is expected to bring about redness of the face associated with pimples and bumps. This occurs more in women who are on their thirties.

Acne Fulminans – this affects men more than women. The type usually comes with nodule-like bumps accompanied by joint aches and fever.

Gram-Negative Folliculitis – this happens as a result of bacterial infection characterized by pustules and cysts. The type is usually a result of long term antibiotic use in order to treat the common acne.
